John Lennon commented that the Beatles song โRainโ addresses those people. But with all good art, thereโs more beneath the surface.
I hadnโt heard the song in years and when it randomly appeared on my Spotify playlist, the line in my illustration below stood out to me because of where I am in my life.
The beauty of great art, whether graphic, motion or sound, is that it can mean different things to different people based on an endless variety of factors.
The word โmindsetโ always seems to be floating around and itโs something Iโve been struggling with since I concluded my last contract as a video editor. Not finding new work (for a while) has definitely affected my mindset!
I started positive and optimistic. But the stories that my mind conjured when I applied week after week with no responses (except for three scammers) took me to a dark and hopeless place.
Back to โRain.โ
When I heard the words, โ๐๐ฉโ๐จ ๐๐ช๐จ๐ฉ ๐ ๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ฉ๐ ๐ค๐ ๐ข๐๐ฃ๐,โ a realization washed over me that I control how I feel about whatever situation Iโm going through. Maybe these jobs wouldnโt fully utilize my experience and abilities. Something more engaging and fulfilling is on the horizon with my ideal clients.
This was further reinforced when I started Ivy Malik โs โFind Your Fansโ course and the first phase was โMindset.โ She thoroughly explained that our thoughts feed our belief system which affects our behavior. If we become aware of this process, we can adjust our thoughts, change our outlook and take actions that will bring us closer to joy in our everyday lives.
I now look forward to completing her course, discovering who I can serve best and start connecting and creating again.
